The Cecchetti method of teaching is based on the work of dancer and
master Enrico Cecchetti. The method, teaching anatomically
sound principles and balanced exercise to work all the muscle
groups.
Cecchetti was born in Rome, Italy in 1850 to a dancing family.
The Cecchetti's toured the US in 1857 and 1858 and performed in
Philadelphia, New York, Boston, Baltimore, Louisville, New Orleans,
St. Louis and St. Paul.
In London and at the end of his teaching career, a friend insisted
his notes and exercises be written down and thus we have three
manuals to follow. To become a certified teacher of the
Cecchetti Principles one must study with a member or coach of the
CCA or ISTD and take examinations.
